Customs intelligence on Wednesday night recovered nine gold bars weighing one kilogram from inside a laptop brought by a passenger of Bangladesh Biman from Singapore and detained him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports BSS.
“Acting on tip off, customs intelligence members challenged Humayun Kabir of Purbodhola, Netrokona, and searched his belongings. After scanning the laptop of Kabir, we found pictures of something suspicious inside. Nine gold bars were found inside the laptop tapped with the motherboard,” a customs release said.
Customs intelligence members also recovered gold ornaments weighing 94 grams from him. The estimated price of the total gold found from Kabir is Taka 49 lakh.
The detainee has been handed over to Airport Police Station and a case was filed in this regard.
