Joint efforts sought to end question paper leaks

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday urged the students, guardians and teachers to come forward to bring an end to question paper leakage problem, reports UNB.

 “Students must convince their parents that they don't want to adopt unfair means to pass the examinations rather they want to pass the examinations by dint of their merit and capability,” the minister said.

The Education Minister came up with the observation at a stipend giving ceremony to meritorious students of different colleges organised by Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust at the International Language Institute Auditorium.

Nahid said parents sometimes collect question papers for their children thinking about their good results but students have to make their parents understand that this is not the right way.

He claimed that some parents tell their children that they are coming with question papers keeping them awake. “This means parents, in some cases, are responsible for encouraging their children to adopt unfair means.”

Nahid said the government has taken all necessary steps to minimise the question paper leakage but some corrupt teachers are involved in such heinous acts.

“When teachers go to receive the question papers for their respective institutions, they leak the question papers midway by taking photos with their smart phones and sell these question papers at Tk 5,000 to 3 lakh,” he said blaming a section of teachers behind such scams.
