By beating the top-notch England, Bangladesh proved them as a reckoning force in Test cricket after their envious success in one-day cricket. Therefore, they played three away series on the trot wherein they showed their continual progress in Test. Following their win-like situation in New Zealand, they fought all the five-day of the one-off Test against the high-ranked Indian and then won against Sri Lanka.

This time they will play the two-Test home series against the top-flight Australia in August and September at home turf. They are preparing themselves for the tough fight against the mighty opponent.

Bangladesh opening batsman Imrul Kayes said that the way they have been performing in Test after their continual success in one-day cricket at home and aboard, they all are taking better preparation for the next fixture against Australia.

“In our condition, we have been playing better cricket in both one-day and Test what we already proved against the top-flight England. I think we will get the similar condition against the high-ranked Australia also,” said Imrul Kayes.

“We’re taking our mental preparation for the series what is needed for us to do better result. Both batsmen and bowlers are being ready for playing at this stage of games,” Kayes told reporters after their training session at BCB Academy in Mirpur yesterday.

Keeping the Australia series in mind, they have set a target as Imrul said that they will try to widen respective innings after being set in wickets.

“I think, there is no similarity with wickets in Bangladesh and India. Our wickets are not so difficult than Indian wickets. Here scoring is a bit easier,” he said.

“It’s very difficult for batsmen to sustain in Indian conditions on the third and fourth day. But if our batsmen could be set in wickets they can make big score what we showed in the last home series against the top-notch English side. Along with other batsmen, Tamim Iqbal played big innings,” he also said.

“This time our batsmen set a target. According to it, we’ll attempt to stretch the innings after being set well in wickets,” he added.

Even though the opening batsman has been performing since last eight years, he could not be regular in shorter formats of games what he did in Test. The 28-year-old batsman played so far 28 Tests, 67 one-day coupled with 12 T20 Internationals for Bangladesh after being debuted in 2008.

“I always try to do my own works when I get chance. You all have seen it throughout my career. But the team management, I think, try to get a different thing from me. For this I could not be regular in the team,” he said, adding “But I try my own job. I’ll try it as long as I play. If the management thinks that they will continue this by me then different thing could be happened.”

“Every batsman has weak and strong points. A batsman is never stronger in one place. I try to amend my lacking where I have.”

The left-handed batsman said that opening the proceeding is always challenging job wherein some are succeeded and some are not.

“The opening position of the team is always a challenging work. If one shows a bit bad then he will be sidelined. So those, who get chance to play, will try to restore the place,” the south-paw said.

“I have been trying this since last eight years. I come back by playing better cricket in some matches. Again I dropped from the team after playing some worse cricket. In this way, my cricket career has been passing. Thereafter, I’m trying so that I could do better further,” he signed off.
