Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia yesterday claimed that poet and columnist Farhad Mazhar's statement over his abduction does not match the facts, reports UNB.
"We've found that the video and CCTV footages, call lists and other evidence that we've collected during investigation don't support his statement (Farhad's) given before a court under section 164 of the Penal Code," he said.
The DMP chief was replying to a query from reporters at a scholarship programme at the DMP Headquarters.
Police are scrutinising the collected information, he said, adding that it will take two or three days more to reach a right decision. “Our IGP sir will inform the nation of the real fact through journalists in a day or two.”
Farhad Mazhar was said to have been abducted by unknown miscreants from Adabar in the capital in the early hours of July 3. On July 4, police found him in a ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus around 11:30 pm while he was ‘returning’ to Dhaka from Khulna.
