An union council chairman was arrested in a case filed against him for defying 90 metric tons of rice allocated for 1500 VGF card holders on Tuesday night.
He was identified as Mohammed Alauddin Mollah, chairman of Ataboho Union Parishad in Kaliakoir. He is also the president of Ataboho union unit Awami League of the upazila .
Officer in Charge of Kaliakoir police station Mohammed Abdul Motaleb Miah said, Alauddin was arrested from Savar.
Assistant director of Gazipur Anti-Corruption Commissione office and also the investigation officer of the case Mohammed Mostafizur Rahman said that allegations were made in the case that the Chairman Alauddin with the help of three local dealers misused about 90 metric tons of rice allocated for the poor 1500 VGF cardholders in September and October in 2016.
