The biennial competition of the IAAF World Youth Championship will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from July 12-16.
Zahir, who participated in the 200 meters sprint in Thailand to qualify in the 10th edition of the IAAF World Youth Championship, was very unlucky missing his favourite event only for 0.04 seconds when he was late finisher for that fraction of seconds.
The qualifying timing for 200 meters was 22.05 seconds but Zahir finished on 22.09 in the semifinal.
However, the young runner did not miss the 400 meters when he reached the mark with clocking 49.1 seconds in the semifinal when the qualifying timing of this event was 49.25 seconds.
Former fastest man of the country Abdullah Hel Kafi, now the coach of BKSP, who accompanied Zahir in Thailand, said that he is very much pleased to see the talent in Zahir and he needs high performance training for long time to build up a bright feature.
Kafi also said that it was unfortunate for Zahir not to qualify in the 200 meters only for 0.04 seconds but he proved his ability by qualifying in the 400 meters.
Zahir now going to Nairobi with a high hope to run in the semifinal phase, as it is something tough to win any medal in that level.
Zahir took 49.25 seconds in the heat and finished the semifinal with taking 49.12 seconds and he his very optimistic that if he could keep the timing of Thailand, he would be able to qualify in the semifinal in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, all 18 athletes, who participated in the 22nd Asian Athletic meet in Bhubenswar, India last week, could not do well even any of them could not better their personal timing of their previous best but only Kibria Khondokar, 800 meters runner, did the best timing of his career with finishing 1.54.66 seconds to be 23rd off 31 runners.
