Speakers at the closing ceremony of a training programme for Chittagong and Karnaphuli EPZs social councilors yesterday said it is important to engage workers in financial literacy for a better contribution to the economy of the country.
They said this while speaking at the closing ceremony of Training of Trainers (ToT) on financial literacy for social councilors of Chittagong and Karnaphuli EPZs at the foreign investor’s club of the port city, says a press statement.
MRDI under the CSR initiative with HSBC is implementing a project ‘understanding finance by the youth’ in partnership with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
Appreciating the initiative, Ashraful Kabir, chief engineer and project director capacity building of BEPZA, called for greater engagement of the corporate sector in CSR activities that directly address the welfare of the EPZ workers. “We feel delighted that the effort will contribute to build financially informed workers” he added.
Nazma Binte Alamgir, general manager, PR, BEPZA, Khorshid Alam, general manager of Chittagong EPZ, SM Akhter Alam Mostafi, general manager of Karnaphuli EPZ, M Nasirul Hoque, divisional coordinator of MRDI, and Hasibur Rahman, executive director of MRDI, were also present on the occasion.
