Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday left Dhaka for Geneva in Switzerland to attend the “6th Global Review of Aid for Trade” meeting launching today, reports BSS.
The minister will attend the three-day meeting at the invitation of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director General Roberto Azevedo, said a press release yesterday.
This year’s global review is dedicated to the theme of “Promoting Trade, Inclusive-ness and Connectivity for Sustainable Development”.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to look at how Aid for Trade can contribute to the integration of developing countries and least developed countries into the multilateral trading system and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The minister is scheduled to speak at “Aid for Trade in Asia and the Pacific: Promoting Connec-tivity and Inclusive Development” session in the meeting.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the commerce minister will meet director generals of the WTO, the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), International Development Minister of the United Kingdom and the World Bank Senior Director.
