‘No place for extremism, militancy in Bangladesh’

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon yesterday said Bangladesh is an example of communal harmony and there is no place for religious extremism and militancy in this country, reports BSS.

The minister said the government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against religious extremism and militancy. Menon came up with the observations while talking to Cardinal Patrick D'Rozario at Kakrail Catholic Church in the capital yesterday morning.

The minister during the meeting thanked authorities in Vatican City for appointing Archbishop Patrick as Cardinal.

The chief religious leader of the Catholic community in Bangladesh during the meeting drew attention of the minister to different problems being faced by their institutes including Notre Dame College and Holy Cross College.

Menon at the time pledged his full support to resolve the issues.
