A special show of the much-acclaimed play titled ‘Mujib Mane Mukti’ will be brought to the stage today at 4pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. The play will be staged as a part of the ongoing four-day theatre festival, which has been organised on the occasion of completion of three-decade journey of Loko Natydal, one of the most prominent theatre troupes in the country.

Planned, scripted and directed by director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, ‘Mujib Mane Mukti’ portrays the simple childhood of Bangabandhu with background music. As the story progresses, Bangabandhu is seen growing up through different events. Rooted in history, the story of the play depicts the versatile life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. From his boyhood to his tragic death, the play unfolds the major episodes of his life. The play also brings out a few incidents relating to national importance, including the Language Movement, Agartala Conspiracy Case, Bangadbandhu’s historic speech of March 7 and finally, the Liberation War. The play also narrates the emergence of Bangladesh as a free nation. A total of 50 artistes take part in this production.

On the other hand, Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Dhakghar’ will be staged at 5pm, while another notable Tagore drama ‘Rothjatra’ will be brought to the stage at 6pm at the same venue.

Besides, host troupe Loko Natyadal (Siddeshwari) is bringing its much-acclaimed production ‘Sonai Madhab’ on stage today at 7pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA. Directed by Liaqaut Ali Lucky, the production is based on a story from Mymensingh Geetika, a collection of traditional ballads. Music of the production is done by Mostafa Anwar Swapan. ‘Sonai Madhab’ weaves a tale of romantic tragedy between Sonai and Madhab, the leading characters in the play. The play is a dramatic depiction that weaves woes, agonies and dilemmas of women in a traditional narrative way.
