Nazmul Hossain Shanto struck a brilliant century as BCB High Performance Unit recorded their second straight victory in Australia tour, demolishing Northern Territory (NT) Invitational XI by 70 runs at the MCG ground in Darwin.
The victory following the one-wicket win over the same side a day ago gave them 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
Opting to bat first, the HP team piled up a huge 313 for seven after which they bowled NT for 243.
Shanto led the victory with an innings of 101 and it was complemented by the 60 from Irfan Shukkur and 58 from Anamul Haque Bijoy. The innings however helped Anamul who are under close observation of the national team management, make a giant step to stake his claim in the national team again. Anamul had had a good performance in the domestic league. NT’s Daneil McCail snapped up four wickets for his side.
HP fast bowler Mohammed Saifuddin derailed NT’s innings with a gem of bowling. He snared four wickets for 36 runs to hasten the local side’s defeat despite the century of Jacob Dickman who scored 105. Another pacer Ebadat Hossain took two for 35.
