Mohammad Ashraful termed Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as a great leader, stating that his good individual performance made his task easier to bring success for the team.
“Mashrafe is a great leader. He knows what he wants to do. But what is the most important thing is that he has been performing regularly that made his task easier,” Ashraful said yesterday.
Both Mashrafe and Ashraful entered into Bangladesh team almost a similar time. While Ashraful established him the first poster boy of Bangladesh cricket, Mashrafe’s injury prone nature made him out from the scene almost. But when Mashrafe showed a thumb to the injury to get back with a bang, Ashraful downgraded him by involving into match and spot fixing scam.
However Ashraful is back to cricket now after serving a ban with an intention to stake claim in the national team again. He knows how tough job it would be, specially when the side has got a settled unit.
“Bangladesh is in a good position now and the senior players’ performance in the last five or six years took Bangladesh in such position. Tamim, Shakib, Riyad, Mushfiqur have been a good player always but in the last five or six years, they have been scoring runs at regular basis. In think they are the behind Bangladesh huge success.”
“I didn’t get runs as I was expected in the BCL and Dhaka Premier League. I have some family problems and others. But this year I want to get back amongst runs. That’s why I started practice early.”
