NARSINGDI: Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) disbursed TK 67.20 crore as agricultural loan among 6,000 farmers through its 21 branches in the six upazilas of the district during the fiscal year 2016- 2017.
Sources said BKB earmarked TK 98.45 crore for disbursement as agricultural loan in the district for the last fiscal year. But the bank disbursed TK 67.20 crore.
Meanwhile BKB realized Tk 80.22 crore outstanding loan including 18.44 crore classified loan from 6,819 borrowers in the district.
BKB sources said they took plan for realizing Tk 106.68 crore outstanding loans including classified loan for the last fiscal year. But the Bank realized Tk 80.22 crore from the region. The percentage of loan realised by the bank stands about 75 percent on June 30.
Deputy General Manager of BKB of Narsingdi region Mahtab Ali Rashid told BSS that BKB generally disburse agricultural loan for crop cultivation,
pisciculture, livestock sector, setting of poultry farm, purchasing of agriculture equipments, small trading, marketing of agricultural products and socio-economic development activities.
