Yunnan native film The Water Buffalo premiered

Recently, a rural-themed film entitled “The Water Buffalo” premiered in Qujing, Yunnan. The film won the Golden Remi Award at the World Fest-Houston on April 29 in Houston, the United States.

In the film, Grandpa Shi has a water buffalo. In order to raise money to cure his wife Grandma Shi of her illness, Grandpa Shi has to sell the water buffalo which he has kept for many years. On the market, Lu Jiankang wants to buy the water buffalo and does not bring enough money. Lu Jiankang promises to pay Grandpa Shi the residual balance the next day, but fails to show up again. Just as everyone thinks that Lu Jiankang is a liar, it turns that Lu Jiankang is drowned on the way home and his wife goes crazy. Having learned the news, Grandpa Shi stands at the top of a slope and looks into the distance. At the release ceremony, the producing team shared the creative process with the audience.
