Bangladesh HP team win first match in Darwin

Bangladesh High Performance (BHP) cricket team got off to a solid start when they beat Northern Territory Invitational team by one wicket in the low-scoring opener of the five-match one-day series at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG-1) in Darwin yesterday.

The visiting side captain Liton Kumar Das used his bowling battery after wining the toss on the Australian deck and justified his decision right as his bowlers halted the progress of the local side to 189 for seven in 50 overs what they overhauled with three balls to spare.

Tanvir Haider topscored for the Bangladesh High Performance with 51. He clubbed four fours in his 83-ball knock. Captain Liton Kumar Das made the second best of 41. He clouted one six and four boundaries to make 41 off 31.

Abul Hasan Raju (31) and Anamul Haque Bijoy (20) were the other contributors of the winnings side. H Martin picked up three wickets, while A Gregory snapped up two wickets for the local side.

Earlier, Northern Territory Invitational team put on 189 for seven courtesy of J Dickman’s 73. Dickman faced 78 deliveries, where he had seven fours before being bowled by Mohammad Saifuddin. A Gregory (42), J Doyle (24) and S Dick (14) were the other scorers to build up a meager total.

Pacer Abul Hasan Raju was the most successful bowler, who claimed two wickets for 34. Abu Haider Rony, Abu Jahed Rahi, Mohammad Saifuddin and Jubair Hossain Likhon took one wicket apiece for the winners.
