A 160-strong contingent of Bangladesh Police left Dhaka Tuesday night by a chartered aircraft of the United Nations for joining the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti, reports BSS.
Apart from the stipulated forces working with different peacekeeping missions under the United Nations (UN), Superintendent of Police Mirza Abdullahel Baki is leading the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit-3 (BANFPU-3) team, as commander to establish peace in volatile Haiti.
Different police officials including Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, (UN Affairs), Police Headquarters, Sheikh Rafiqul Islam were present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to see off the peacekeeping team, according to a release.
Earlier, additional inspector general of police Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury briefed the mission bound police personnel on the UN peacekeeping affairs.
