Lightning strike kills 5 in Kushtia

Five people, including a boy, were killed by lightning strike at ashatala field in Mirpur upazila yesterday, reports UNB from Kushtia.

Four of the deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 60 of Poyari village, Abdus Sattar, 40 of Kurshabaria village, Shahin, 42 of Atigram village of Mirpur upazila and Abul Kashem, 45. The identity of the boy, aged about 12, could not be known immediately.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said a thunderbolt struck them while they were standing under the shed of a shop amid rain, leaving them dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue.
