Bangladesh target to play more bilateral series

BCB chief rules out chance of playing tri-nation

Bangladesh set a target to play more games and arrange more bilateral series out of future tour’s programme (FTP) with the top-notch teams the likes of India and England.

The Tigers have no games against India and England in their conditions in the next slot of the FTP.

In this regard, Nazmul Hassan Papon, president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said yesterday that they are discussing with England and India so that they can play some more games with them at their conditions.

“There still have chances to increase the bilateral series out of the future tour’s programme (FTP). The fact is that some of the series have been finalized but some are remained under discussion. The schedule of Bangladesh and other countries are being examined,” Nazmul Hassan said.

“We’re getting some offers but could not accommodate because of our pre-occupation. So, there are opportunities for discussing about it in the next times,” Papon told reporters.

India proposed Bangladesh to play a tri-nation series on October with the involvement of New Zealand while Bangladesh will be touring in South Africa. From there, they will back on October 28. Just after a week, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will get underway. In this situation, it is quite impossible for Bangladesh to play the series on this date.

The BCB president and so said that they could not play the proposed triangular series if not change the current schedule.

“We got a proposal in this regard. Unfortunately we could not match its schedule because our team will back from South Africa playing a series on October 28,” BCB boss said. “Both India and New Zealand are seeking to play before the October 28. We can’t change the schedule of the South Africa tour as it has already been finalized. If it is held from October 28 and our BPL is being begun on November 5,” he also said.

“If we defer the BPL, it will contradict with the South African T20 tournament. So, it will be very troubling matter. It is next to impossible to accommodate the tri-nation series in this schedule. If they don’t change the date it is not possible to arrange,” he added.
