CHITTAGONG: Police yesterday recovered a body from Char Patharghata area under Karnaphuli Police station in Chittagong city. The family member of the deceased alleged that he was picked up by unidentified miscreants previous night and the morning police recovered the body.
The victim was identified as Md Alamgir, 47, a resident of Char Patharghata area.
Police said he might have been killed over land dispute. A long standing dispute over land was going on with victim’s cousin, said police.
“Alamgir was working as caretaker at Moazzam colony of Char Patharghata. Every night he supposed to return home at mid night. We got allegation from his family member that unidentified people picked him up while he was returning home. At morning his relatives found his body near of his home. There are injury marks at his throat. It seems to us that he was strangled to death,” said Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station.
