BNP on Sunday alleged that ruling party men are embezzling public money by creating fake organisations in the name of mosques and temples across the country, reports UNB.
“Newspapers ran reports how ruling party men indulged in plundering of hundreds of crore taka through fake projects at districts and upazilas across the county ahead of June closing (of FY),” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he further said, “Awami League leaders are pocketing government allocations making fake committees and organisations in the name of mosques, temples and other religious and social institutions.”
The BNP leader said the ruling party men are also now misappropriating the money of mosques and temples after plundering banks, insurances and all other financial institutions.
He alleged that AL men siphoned off huge money they made through corruption and looting, imposing a huge loan burden on people. “Even, the child who was born today in the country will have to bear a heavy loan burden.”
The BNP leader warned Awami League leaders and activists that they will face grave dangers if they do not correct themselves before the time runs out.
He said the government framed the new budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 with a huge deficit depending on loan to make people's loan burden heavier.
Rizvi said though the government has been on a campaign that they are taking the country towards development and advancement, actually it is pushing the country towards ruination. Mentioning that plainclothes police cordoned off Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman's Gulshan house, he strongly denounced it. “It's a serious attack on freedom of expression and free thinking. The government is using the state machinery to gag Mahmudur Rahman's voice.”
