Criminal killed in gunfight

An alleged member of a robber gang was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with his rivals at Jaliakandi in Laxmipur sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Milon, 28, a resident of the area.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nasim Miah said two local gangs of robbers --Didar Bahini and Soleman Bahini -- had long been at loggerheads over establishment of supremacy. As a sequel to the enmity, members of Soleman Bahahi came to Jalikandhi village and opened fire at the members of other group, triggering a gunfight at about 11.00pm, leaving Milon dead on the spot.
Police said Milon, a listed criminal, was wanted in several cases, including murder, rape, kidnapping, and illegal toll collection.
