The government has taken up two projects in the current fiscal (2015-16) aiming at automation and digitisation of land management in the country, that are expected to reduce the hassles and complexities in land registration and transfer, as well as reduce the land-related cases being pursued in courts across the country, reports UNB.
The two projects are - Land Management Automation and Digital Land Management. According to an official document, the ‘Land Management Automation Project’ undertaken by the Land Ministry has been included in the Annual Development Project (ADP).
Once the system is automated, landowners or buyers will not need to visit more than 10 government offices for documents.
All the documents will be uploaded to a database, to which the government officials and people, in some cases, will have access.
Under this project, a plan has been devised to simplify land management through countrywide land mutation, collection of land development tax, khas land and sayrat mohal management, and office and finance management.
