HC denies bail to Gaus

The High Court (HC) yesterday denied bail to GK Gaus, suspended mayor of Habiganj Pourasava, in connection with the murder case of former finance minister AMS Kibria.
A division HC bench comprising Justice M Nuruzzaman and Justice Abdur Rab has passed the order following a bail plea submitted by GK Gaus after hearing the petition, reports UNB.
Earlier, on July 27 Gaus submitted the bail petition before the HC.
Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain stood for the accused before the court, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state. On January 27, 2005, five people including Kibria were killed in a grenade attack after attending a rally in Boidyer Bazar of Habiganj.
