‘Doob’ to be screened June 28-29

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s much-talked-about film ‘Doob’ (No Bed of Roses), starring Indian popular actor Irrfan Khan and Bangladeshi Nusrat Imroze Tisha will compete at the main competition category of the 39th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival in Moscow.
The festival has begun on June 22 with the screening of ‘Indian blockbuster ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ directed by S.S. Rajamouli. The festival will continue till June 29 and the film ‘Doob’ will be screened on June 28 at Multiplex Cinema October, Hall 1 and at Cosmos, Hall 1 on June 29.
Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia produced the film ‘Doob’ alongside India’s Eskay Movies with Khan’s IK Company on board as co-producer.
The film shows marriage as an institution that demanded too much of loyalty and by the time Javed, the biggest Bangladeshi cultural icon, was in his fifties, he found himself infatuated with Nitu, his beloved daughter Saberi’s friend, who always had the best of friendship and a sort of competition with his daughter. Javeed finally divorces his wife Maya and marries Nitu. Initially, Saberi finds it difficult to face in a tabooed society, but soon she regroups herself and pushes her mother to explore the grace of independence. In desperation, together they find strength. Meanwhile, Nitu also finds it is no bed of roses; as she receives the wrath of a misogynist society, for breaking the national standards of ethical conduct. Throughout the film we keep seeing the death of love in life and at the end love sprouts again, this time, in death.
The main competition category also includes ‘Buy Me’ (Russia), ‘Crested Ibis’ (China), ‘Darkland’ (Denmark), ‘Ordinary Person’ (Republic of Korea), ‘Selfie’ (Spain), ‘Star Boys’ (Finland), ‘Summer Blooms’ (Japan), ‘Symphony for Ana’ (Argentina), ‘Thawed Carp’ (Russia), ‘The Best of All Worlds’ (Germany, Austria), and ‘Yellow Heat’ (Turkey).
