Two minor girls raped in capital
Two children were raped in Rayerbazar and Mirpur areas of the capital on Saturday night, just two days after a salesgirl was gang-rape in Uttara on Thursday.
Police have arrested one person in connection with the rape in Rayerbazar.
Inspector Mainul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Hajaribagh Police Station, said a couple came to the police station yesterday morning and filed a complaint that their seven year old daughter was raped on Saturday night.
Receiving the complaint, we immediately conducted a raid in Rayerbazar area and arrested the alleged rapist named Khokon, he said.
The father of the victim is a rickshaw puller and her mother works as a domestic help in the area, the police officer added.
Quoting the mother of the victim, the OC said, after returning from her work on Saturday night, she found her daughter lying on the floor and bleeding. Later the daughter informed her that their neighbor Khokon, 28, raped her. Khokon works as a cook.
The girl was sent to the One Stop Crisis Center of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for necessary medical tests. A case was filed and Khokon was produced before a Dhaka Court seeking seven-day remand. Meanwhile, another nine years old girl was raped at Mirerbagh in the city. Assistant Sub-inspector Muktaruzzaman of Mirpur Model Police Station admitted the incident.
According to family members of the victim, a man raped the girl at the familys rented residence at Mirerbagh in Mirpur around 7:00pm on Saturday when she was alone at home.
Police said, they have received primary information that Rasel, 20, a neighbor, raped her after entering at their residence when the victims mother, a ready-made garments factory worker, was outside of the home.
A case was filed over the matter and the victim was sent to the One Stop Crisis Center of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, tests at the DMCH confirmed that both the girls were raped.
