Youth ‘commits suicide’ in Ctg
CHITTAGONG:  A youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in South Khulshi Paharika Residential area under Khulshi police station in the city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Md Hasan, 22, son of Sekandar Miah. Md Hamid, Nayek of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police Outpost, said Hasan, in a critical condition, was rushed to CMCH where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. An unidentified death case was lodged with Khulshi police station in this connection, said Officer-in-Charge of Khulshi Police Station.
Kuwaiti envoy meets FM
Ahmad Ebraheem Al-Dafiri, outgoing Kuwaiti ambassador to Bangladesh, called on Minister for Foreign Affairs Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali at latter's ministry here yeterday, said a ministry release. During the call on, foreign minister Mahmud Ali and Kuwaiti envoy Ali Ahmad discussed in brief on the bilateral issues concerned with mutual interests between Bangladesh and Kuwait. Both the parties also expressed their hope that the friendly relationships existing between the two countries would strengthen further in the future and they expressed their confidence as they could work together in this regard.
Tk 58cr smuggled goods seized
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized yaba tablets, heroin and foreign wines worth over Taka 58.68 crore from different frontiers in July, reports BSS. An official release yesterday said, a total of 19 people were handed over to concerned police stations for their alleged involvement in trafficking goods and banned drugs worth about TK 58 crore, 68 lakh, 57 thousand and 787. The contraband items include: 2,05,403 pieces of yaba tablets, 180 gram heroin, 24,023 bottles of foreign wines and 7,996 intoxicated injections while trafficking goods include:12,015 watches, 4,448 three-piece, 22,558-metre clothe, 8,673 pieces of machinery parts, two touchstone idles and firearms like four pistols, one gun, seven magazines and 22 round bullets

RAJSHAHI: Detective Branch (DB) Police detained four alleged criminals and seized a firearms with ammunition from Court Station area under Rajpara police station in the city yesterday noon, police sources said.
The arrested persons were identified as Bidyut Hossain, 26, Mehedi Hassan, 25, Shaheen Kadir, 33, and Shahidul Alam, 28. On a tip-off, a DB police team conducted a sudden raid in an auto-rickshaw and arrested them with the firearms and ammunition.
