Assault on physician protested

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Rangpur branch, formed a human chain at Ranpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) intersection in the city yesterday to protest an assault on a lady doctor allegedly by lawmaker Salma Islam and her associates at the emergency ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on July 30. Later, they held a rally there demanding immediate arrest of the accused, who assault the doctor, and their punishment. They said lawmaker Salma Islam and her associates intentionally assaulted an on-duty doctor Dr Mim on July 30. They never expect that a lawmaker, who represent parliament, could assault a lady doctor. They also demanded their safety and security of all on-duty doctors. The rally was addressed by the doctors of the hospital Nurun-Nabi, Laizu, Samiul Ahmed Rifat, Wahab, Seikh Saidul Islam, ARM Sujaudoula, Syed Mamun Rahman, Sarwar Alam, among others.
