The delegates from different health related organisations yesterday sought the intervention of parliamentary standing committee on health ministry to establish ‘health promotion foundation’ for the prevention of non communicable diseases like cancer, heart disease and strokes. During a meeting with Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, president of the parliamentary standing committee on health ministry at the national parliament complex, delegates from different health organisations raised their demand of establishing the foundation. The technical advisor of international NGO ‘The Union’ Sayed Mahbubul Alam, executive director of ‘Protect to Journalist’ Nikhil Bhadrao, Senior project officer of WBB Trust, Nazni Kabir and media advocacy officer of the same organisation Sayed Saiful Alam were present at the meeting. The delegates proposed the establishment of ‘Health Promotion Foundation’ to raise the awareness against non communicable diseases which in these days are the major causes behind the increasing number of deaths.
