Players, officials and coaching staffs of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club have rejoiced their title victory of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League on Thursday night after ensured their championship in the evening defeating Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Mamunul & Co, who won a five goals thriller after pulsating 90 minutes fight to confirm the championship, enjoyed the victory at their club tent up to midnight when the
club president let them to enjoy the moment.
After receiving the trophy from the hand of BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, Sheikh Jamal chairman Manzur Kader in his immediate
reaction congratulated Mohammedan coach Kazi Josimuddin Josi.
Manzur, said, “We have a big budgeted team than Mohammedan Sporting Club but the way they played, I highly appreciated them.
They fought evenly throughout the match, really it’s very impressive. ”
“However, all credits go to my coaching staff and the players, they worked hard and got the result. Specially, three foreign players offered their best efforts. They contributed much to make the team champions but local boys were also sincere, dedicated and worked hard throughout the league. Not now, we will celebrate after completing the league.”
Anwarul Karim Helal, manager of the Sheikh Jamal Club, while talking about their triumph yesterday said, “In fact we formed our team with the target to retain the championship and certainly you see that we had a big budgeted team and we included quality foreign players.”
“All the local and foreign players did their best, they were disciplined, dedicated mentality, worked hard and did not lose their concentration or moral despite some up setting – like sharing points with Mohammedan and Brothers and conceding a defeat at the hands Abahani in the last match of the first phase and a 2-2 draw with Rahmatganj.”
“Overall they played like a champions team almost throughout the league to retain the trophy,” said Helal.
Helal said that they just allow the players to enjoy the night but their main celebration will be organised after playing the AFC Cup qualifying match in Kyrgyzstan.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal will leave Dhaka for Kyrgyzstan on August 8, at 6am to play the AFC Cup qualifying round matches.
