Country’s noted film screenplay writer Joseph Shatabdi passed away on September 7 at the age of 62. He breathed his last at his residence in Sirajganj. He had been suffering from cancer for a long time and was under treatment at Khaja Yunus Hospital at Enayetpur of Sirajganj. He wrote scripts for many Bengali films such as ‘Dadi Ma’, ‘Chachu’, ‘Mayer Hate Behester Chabi’, ‘Pitar Asan’, ‘Dharma Amar Ma’, ‘Asman Jamin’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Matir Durgo’, ‘Sujon Bandhu’, ‘Asami Hajir’.
He also playwed a pivotal part as per his contributions through screenplays are concerned. The screenplay that he wrote for FI Manik’s ‘Koti Takar Kabin’ helped the country’s film industry recover from a slump and reach satisfying stage. The final screenplay he wrote was for the film titled ‘Sada Kalo Prem’, which was directed by Shah Alam Mandal, and the filming is currently underway. Joseph left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and many well wishers.
