Siblings Rebeka, Abida Sultana on one stage today after 20 yrs

Noted sibling singers Rebeka Sultana and Abida Sultana performed together 20 years ago at a show in Sweden. Now, after two decades, the two sisters will reunite and perform together today in the Channel I live music programme ‘Walton Ghore Ghore Amader Ponno Gaaner Utsab’. Produced by Ananya Ruma, the live programme will be anchored by Dilruba Sathi.
Rebeka Sultana said, “I am especially grateful to Channel i for inviting us to perform together in their programme. During today’s programme, I will be presenting Pancha Kabi songs and songs of a bygone era. In addition, I will also sing songs according to the request of the audience. I request all the viewers to tune in today and watch the programme on Channel i.”
Abida Sultana said about performing alongside her sister, “I performed with my sister 20 years ago on one stage. The fact that we will be performing together after two decades is a matter of great joy for me. Besides performing by the requests of the viewers, I will be presenting songs from cinemas. I would sincerely like to thank the Channel i family.”
Since Rebeka Sultana has been outside the country for so long, she has not released that many albums. Even then, she still has five albums to her name. On the other hand, Abida Sultana has nine solo albums to her credit, alongside two or three duet albums. Rebeka Sultana first performed playback in the film ‘Jhorer Pakhi’, directed by Khan Ataur Rahman. She then performed playback for the films ‘Bhawal Sannyasi’ and ‘Paruler Sangsar’. Abida Sultana first did playback for ‘Iye Kore Biye’, where National Film Award winning actress Babita acted. After that, she performed playback for many other films.
