At least 10 people suffered burn injuries as the gas cylinder of a passenger bus exploded at Tora on Dhaka-Aricha highway yesterday. Acting police superintendent of Manikganj Jakir Hossain said fire spread inside the bus soon after the gas cylinder of a Paturia-bound bus of ‘Nabinbaron Paribahan’ from Dhaka blew up at around 11.15 am, leaving 10 passengers injured. Two fire fighting units from Manikganj rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after half an hour of frantic efforts. The wounded passengers have been sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital and Munnu Medical College Hospital. Of the injured, condition of Rashida Begum, 45, Najim Uddin, 60, and Hajera Begum, 50, was serious and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Aricha highway was disrupted for one hour due to the incident.
