An outsourcing conference was held on the second day of BASIS SOFTEXPO 2020 at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital yesterday.
Emrazina Islam, brand ambassador of Payoneer Bangladesh presided over the session titled ‘Outsourcing conference powered by Bank Asia and Payoneer’. The session was attended by over three hundreds young freelancers with
industry experts delivering speeches at the conference.
Farhana A Rahman, senior vice president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), spoke on the occasion as the main speaker. “Freelancers should be connected with BASIS formally otherwise they are deprived of various information and incentives relating to their work. Once they are connected with BASIS, their work can be institutionalised and they will also be better informed regarding various government initiatives,” said Farhana.
“Currently freelancers are working through sub contracting. But if they can get orders directly from their clients, their range of operation will widen. Besides, freelancers can get information regarding their work from BASIS. It is a platform and youths can attend various workshops, seminars on freelancing and get technical assistance from us. Through BASIS, they can easily contact large companies as well,” she added.
Zia Arfin, senior executive and vice president of Bank Asia said, “Bank Asia is working to provide facilities and technical assistance to freelancers in Bangladesh. To encourage them, Bank Asia in association with BASIS launched a co-branded prepaid card recently. Freelances can make transactions from home and abroad easily through this card.”
“Outsourcing has earned its importance as a lucrative career among the youngsters in Bangladesh. A significant amount of foreign currency can also be earned from this sector if there is proper planning, guideline and if training is provided to freelancers. A big number of self-reliant freelancers can be generated through this process. BASIS will work for development of the sector,” he added.
The 16th edition of BASIS SOFTEXPO 2020 kicked-off in the capital on Thursday with the slogan “Transforming Life Through Innovation”.
