Justice Manik retires

Many lawyers of the Supreme Court yesterday offered felicitation to the outgoing Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury at his chamber.
 Justice Choudhury will go into the retirement on October 1. But, on September 17 was the last working day of the Supreme Court as it will go on one and half month long vacation from Sunday.  Hence, on Thursday was the last working day for Justice Choudhury and some lawyers including Barrister M Amir-ul Islam, Abdul Baset Majumder, Rokanuddin Mahmud, Advocate Salaudin Dolon, Advocate Layekuzzaman Mollah, Advocate SM Rezaul Karim and Advocate Manzill Murshid went his chamber for offering felicitation.
 Apart from, additional attorney general Murad Reza and some deputy attorney general were also offered him felicitation at his chamber.
Besides those, some judges of the Appellate Division as well as the High Court Division were also offered him felicitation at his chamber.
 As per the provision, the judges and lawyers were conferred the felicitation to the outgoing judge at the courtroom at his last working day. But, Justice Choudury was out of bench since September 9. Hence, the felicitation programme on behalf of Justice Choudhury could not be held, some lawyers, who went his chamber for giving felicitation, said.
Justice Choudhury obtained B.A., LL.B., LL.M. (UK), PGDL (ICSL, CLE), Certificate in Maritime Law and Barrister-at-Law. He was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court Division in 1978.  Elevated as Judge of the High Court Division on 25.03.2009 and as Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on 31.03.2013.
