Dhallywood hero Shakib Khan-starrer ‘Nabab’- a joint production from Bangladesh and India continued its ruling in the box office on the 5th day of its release as the film got ‘packed house’ in most of the theatres. Another joint venture ‘Boss 2’ starring popular Indian actor Jeet, released on the same date, and local production ‘Rajneeti’ starring Shakib Khan are also doing fairly well, report UNB.

‘Nabab’ has earned Tk 9.10 crore on the first five days in the box office while ‘Boss 2’ has earned Tk 6.13 at the same time. The budget of ‘Nabab’ and ‘Boss 2’ were approximately Tk 4.5 crore and Tk 6.5 crore respectively.

After ‘Shikari’ (2016), the film is the second collaboration of director Joydeep Mukherjee from Kolkata and actor Shakib Khan, started to present audiences with a new look and new record in gross collection from the halls.

Shakib Khan-starrer another film ‘Rajneeti’ has released during the Eid and collected an amount of Tk 1.63 crore from the five days which is being screened in the 80 cinema halls.

A senior executive of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc M U Ahmed Jewel said “In the last fifteen years, I did not see any films in the cinema hall, but the trailer and new look of Shakib in ‘Nabab’ encouraged me to see this film. I have to wait for an hour in the queue to collect the ticket. It was really an extravagant movie.”

Two films by Jaaz Multimedia released over Eid- ‘Nabab’ and Indian actor Jeet-starring ‘Boss 2: Back to Rule’ – both caused controversy in the build-up to their release though local film industry in the banner of Cholochitra Paribar became divided into two groups in the question of the release of Indo-Bangla joint-venture films ‘Boss-2’ and ‘Nabab’ this Eid. Indian actor Subhasree Ganguly is the co-star with Shakib in ‘Nabab’. Joydeep Mukherjee from India and Abdul Aziz from Bangladesh jointly directed the 140-minute film, while Jaaz Multimedia of Bangladesh and Himanshu Dhanuka’s Eskay Movies of Kolkata jointly produced the movie.

On the other hand, the film ‘Boss 2’, jointly directed by Baba Yadab and Abdul Aziz, is also attracting big audiences. Jaaz Multimedia is producing the film from Bangladesh side while Jeet’s new production company Jeetz Filmworks and Walzen Media are involved in the production from the Indian side. The film stars Subhasree Ganguly of Kolkata and Nusrat Faria Mazhar of Bangladesh in the lead roles. ‘Nabab’ was released on June 26 in Bangladesh and will be released in India on July 28, while ‘Boss 2’ was released in West Bengal on  June 23 and in Bangladesh on 26 June and was released in rest of India and worldwide on  June 30. ‘Nabab’ was released in 125 cinemas while ‘Boss-2’ was released in 112.
