Reazul Rezu’s directorial debut film ‘Bapjaner Bioscope’ has been selected for the screening for the month of September, as a part of the yearlong film festival titled ‘New Films, New Filmmakers’. The festival is being jointly organised by Moviyana Film Society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) Segun Bagicha in the capital.
As many as four short films and one full length feature film, those have been selected from the total submissions for this month, will be screened today at the auditorium of National Art Plaza of BSA. Among those, ‘Bapjaner Bioscope’ will be screened at the National Art Plaza of BSA at 6:30 pm.
‘Bapjaner Bioscope’ stars Shahiduzjaman Selim, Sanjida Tonmoy, Masud Mohiuddin, Tarek Babu and Satabdi Wadud, among others, in lead roles. In the film, Satabdi is seen as a Bioscope man. Bioscope is a nearly extinct tradition of remote villages. Shatabdi Wadud is bringing back this tradition on the big screen carrying it on her shoulder. Scripted by Masun Reza, the scenes of the film were shot in Sirajganj and Daulatdia.
On the other hand, the selected four short films are ‘Contemplation’ by Nahida Parveen, ‘Dusk’ by Alamgir Malek and Javed Patwary, ‘Priyotomeshu’ by Abu Naser and ‘Puffed Rice’ by Sadia Afrin will be screened at 4:30pm at the same venue.
