A depression over the Bay of Bengal is causing heavy rain and gusty winds in many parts of the country. The Rangamati-Chittagong Highway has been completely blocked by a landslide caused by the heavy rain.
The rain has also caused water-logging in many parts of the capital, which in turn has created traffic congestion. Reports say that the southern and central parts of the country have been most affected by the weather. Fifty buildings in Shariatpur have been severely damaged, and there is also severe waterlogging in many urban areas of Madaripur and Patuakhali.
Many areas in Chandpur have been flooded by 200mm of rain between 3am and 11am today, and many areas of Chittagong and Barisal are watelogged. Sea ports have been told to hoist danger signal No.3, and river-ports to hoist danger signal No.2.
