Care Bangladesh as part of their Health Access and Linkage Opportunities for Workers Plus (HALOW+) project distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other sanitising materials to Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), Health and Family Planning Department in Gazipur and uapzila health complexes in Savar and Bhaluka on Thursday.
The HALOW+ project with financial support from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and partnership with Marks & Spencer (M&S) has been working with Gazipur City Corporation, the office of civil surgeon and DD- Family Planning in Gazipur to help combat COVID-19 since March 8, said a press release.
GCC Mayor Jahangir Alam was present as the chief guest while Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan MP as the guest of honour at the handover ceremony.
Former Tongi Municipality Mayor Azmat Ullah Khan, M&S Senior Social Compliance Manager Mizanur Rahman, and Care Bangladesh's Walter Mwasaa also spoke at the programme.
Following the ceremony HALOW+ project distributed 450 pieces of PPE along with 450 pieces eye shields, 400 boxes disposable masks and hand gloves, 400 liters hand sanitizer, 520 liters liquid soap, 2500 bottles hand rub, 10000 soaps and 155 disinfectant spray machines to extend support to frontline & field level health workers and members of different communities.
