At least seven members of a family suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out due to gas stove explosion at a house at Kalabagan in Dhaka early today.
The injured -- Sumon, 35, Reshma, 24, Rabbi, 14, Rubina, 40, Ayesha, 12, Bithi, 14, and Mamata, 65, -- were rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Bhajan Sarkar, inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Control Room, said a fire broke out at the kitchen of the semi-pucca house in Lake Circus Road area following an explosion of the gas stove, leaving seven people injured.
The explosion took place around 5:38am when the family members went to light the stove, he said.
On information, four firefighting units rushed in and doused the flame around 6:25am.
