DHAKA, SEPT 8: Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) organised a seminar titled ‘Contemporary Physiotherapy practice across the world and Bangladesh perspectives’ on ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ with a view to increase awareness about the issue at Reddaway Hall, CRP, savar on Thursday, says a press release. Dr Akbar Ali Khan, former adviser, caretaker government, journalist ABM Musa; Dr Md Badrul Alam, Associate Professor, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital; Dr Rajib Hasan, President, Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA); Major General (retd) Dr Md Nurul Haq, Trustee Member, CRP; Valerie A Taylor, founder and coordinator, CRP and Shafiqul Islam, executive director of CRP were present at the seminar.
Prof Dr Lori Walton, Indiana State University, USA and Md Sohrab Hossain, Assistant Professor, Physiotherapy and Chief of Admin of CRP presented the key note papers.
In their speeches speakers hoped that the seminar will help make the voice of health professionals heard regarding non-communicable diseases and be an opportunity for everyone to move the global role of the profession forward in preventing and treating non-communicable conditions. They also hailed the role of CRP for providing people with affordable and sustainable solutions and showing clearly that much can be done to prevent disabilities and provide better care for them when they do occur.
