The first ever campus-based television station in the country, ULAB TV recently celebrated its second anniversary on its Dhanmondi Campus in the capital, says a press release.
Biplob Shahid, Senior News Editor of private satellite television station Channel 24, was present at the programme as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Jude William Genillo, Head of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ), unwrapped a DVD memorabilia at the programme.
It broadcasts infotainment programmes and regular news bulletins - compiled, edited and presented by the students - throughout the week. MSJ department organised a celebration programme at the campus auditorium on the occasion.
Biplob Shahid said, “Such an initiative not only helps students learn but also provides the television industry with ample well-trained professionals. As a result, the industry will grow faster and quality will be enhanced”.
ULAB TV is an initiative of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ). The station is fully run by the students of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). It was launched on June 27, 2013 with an aim to provide the students with the much needed practical experience that television stations often look for when they recruit.
