Dual exhibition ‘Nirman’ by artist couple underway at Studio 6/6

‘Nirman’, a dual exhibition by artist couple Farhana Afroz and NajibTareque, is now underway at the Studio 6/6 in the capital’s Mohammodpur area. Prominent artist Abul Bark Alvi and Professor Syed AzizulHaque jointly inaugurated the exhibition on Friday evening on the gallery premises where Faruk Faisal, Abdussalam and Topu Khan were present. Artist Farhana Afroz is showcasing two different series-- Impression and Woman, while artist Najib Tareque has extended his Nirman series and is showcasing ‘Nirman B’ during this ten-day exhibition.  A number of 17 artworks are being exhibited at the exhibition ‘Nirman’. Najib Tareque graduated from Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. He was the former chief artist of both Daily Jugantor and Daily Janakantha. The artist was also the former Brand Marketing Consultant of Standard Chartered Bank. Since 1987 he has been part of various group and solo exhibitions both in the country and abroad. Among his solo exhibitions a few were hosted purely online. He was the founding member of Jolrong, one of the first online Art galleries in South Asia.
On the other hand, Farhana Afroz Bappy completed her graduation from Institute of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. After completing graduation, she has concentrated more on concept building and fashion designing.  Her works are focused mainly on human psychology and how the society functions. Being a mother of two, losing both parents and being married to an artist, Farhana has experienced almost every human emotion by now. A woman artist in a third world country can make a huge societal difference and this is exactly what the idea and concepts behind her work are. It’s a silent war. The exhibition remains open to all every day from 3pm to 9pm, until May 15.
