Two alleged militants blew themselves up while members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit were carrying out a drive at a suspected militant den at Bojrapur village under Maheshkhali upazila early yesterday, reports UNB. Jhenidah Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said: "Acting on a tip-off, a CTTC team cordoned off the house around 4 am. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the two men committed suicide by detonating their explosives. Three policemen - CTTC Assistant Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Islam, Sub-Inspectors Mohsin and Mujibur Rahman - sustained injuries during the security operation against the suspected militant hideout. They were admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital."
Later, the law enforcers picked the house owner, Jahurul Islam, and two other persons -- Alam and Jasim - up from the spot. Local administration imposed section 144 at the village in order to ensure security of the villagers. Meanwhile, police cordoned off another suspected militant den at Lebutala villge under the sadar upazila, said officer-in-charge of Jhenidah Sadar Police Station Harendra Nath Sarker.
