Popular film actress and director Arifa Parvin Moushumi, better known by her stage name Moushumi, first appeared in the film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ on March 25, 1993 will complete two decades of her acting career today.
Directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Moushumi acted in the film opposite the late Salman Shah. She has acted in over 150 films and made her directorial debut with ‘Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti’ (2003). She got the National Film Award for ‘Meghla Akash’ (2001), ‘Devdas’ (2013) and ‘Ek Cup Cha’ (2014).
“I can’t imagine that so many years have passed! I remember my father today. I remember the hero of my first film, Salman Shah, and Manna vai. I’m thankful to photographer Chanchal Mahmood who took my first photo,” she said.
“I'm also thankful to Cassandra Limited chief Shakib Lohani, director Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Chashi Nazrul Islam, Nargis Akter, Raj, the Ananda Bichitra magazine and journalist Awlad Hossain,” she added.
“My mother and my two sisters Ihave always stood by me. I’m glad to have a true friend like my husband Omar Sani, whose love and support make me blissful. Please pray for my two sons Fardin and Fayaz,” she said.
Moushumi also modelled for ‘Sundori Print saree’, a TV commercial directed by Afzal Hossain, which created a stir among the people.
“Moushumi has created a niche with her own efforts. Some people are born with a special quality, Moushumi possesses that special quality,” said Afzal Hossain. “Moushumi knows how to pay respect to people. She can act in all kinds of roles,” said Sohanur Rahman Sohan.
