Shahana Bajpaie to make comeback after 7 years

Popular singer Sahana Bajpaie is making a comeback to the music scene after a break of seven long years. For the second time in her career, she is going to release a Rabindra Sangeet album and has already started working for it. She announced the news of her comeback through her Facebook account. Her last Rabindra Sangeet album ‘Notun Kore Pabo Bole’ was released in 2007.
Shahana, who is currently residing in London with her husband and daughter, said, “Various music composers from London and Kolkata are working on my new album. If all goes according to the plan, then the new album will release in coming August. I would like to sincerely thank my audience and fans for always being on my side and having faith in me.”
To note, Shahana lent her vocals to the songs ‘Tomay Gaan Shunabo’ and ‘Poush Toder’ from the film ‘Under Construction’, directed by Rubaiyat Hossain in 2014.
Sahana Bajpaie was brought up and educated in Tagore’s own land, Santiniketan. Sahana trained in Indian classical music and Rabindra Sangeet under Bijoy Sinha, Madhumita Roy, Chitra Roy, Shyamoli Bandopadhyay, Chandan Munshi and Mita Huq (Bangladesh) among others. She is a founder member of the Bangladeshi Sufi-Baul fusion band, Bangla along with Bangladeshi musician Shayan Chowdhury Arnob. She has written several popular songs for the musician Arnob and performed backing vocals for his solo albums, ‘Chaina Bhabish’ (2006), ‘Hok Kolorob’ (2007), ‘Doob’ (2008). She has performed at Alexander Hall, Canary Wharf, London, with the Bangladeshi Sufi-Baul fusion band Bangla, 2006. l
