Singer Kanak Chapa’s first solo show ends tomorrow

For the music lovers, the name ‘Kanak Chapa’ is synonymous with her melodious voice and captivating music. However, she has now established a new identity for herself; that of an artist as well. Kanak Chapa’s very first art exhibition titled ‘Didhar Dolachol’ began on the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) premises on Friday. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed inaugurated the art exhibition, while eminent singer Ferdousi Rahman, national and international award winning artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma and music composer Mainul Islam Khan, actor-director Afzal Hossain, lyricist Shahidullah Fariyazi, among others, were present. The exhibition is being dedicated to late artist-director Khalid Mahmud Mithu, who passed away tragically in an accident recently. Kanak Chapa informed that her father Azizul Haq Murshed, who was a direct student of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, has been an inspiration towards her art. She feels that as a music artiste, she has gained immense praise, love and admiration from her fans and well wishers and now, she can devote some time towards art. The exhibition includes over 100 of Kanak Chapa’s artworks, going as far back as those from her schooldays. ‘Didhar Dolachol’ will continue until tomorrow at Gallery 4 of BSA.
