27 veterans to be honouned

In recognition of their significant contributions to their own fields, Nayak Raj-famed seasoned actor Razzak, melody queen Runa Laila and late legendary writer Humayun Ahmed (posthumous) will be awarded on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Amin Jewellers. Including these three noted personalities, a total number of 27 veterans of the country will be awarded by Amin Jewellers marking its golden jubilee tomorrow evening at the Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital.
Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith will be present as chief guest at the award ceremony, while Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, chairman of Amin Jewellers and former Member of Parliament Kazi Sirajul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will join the event as special guests.
27 veterans are going to receive awards for their extraordinary contributions to the different fields. Each of the awardees will receive an honorarium of Tk.3 lac, a medal (Made with 2 bhori gold), a crest and an uttorio.
In the closing segment of the programme, Runa Laila will come on the stage with her solo performance. Besides, audience-admired actress-dancer Aupee Karim, model Shokh, singers Fatema Tuz Zohra, Imran and Porshi, among others, will perform in the programme.
Farhana Lucky, owner of Dream Merchant—the event partner of the programme, said about the award ceremony, “Though it an award giving ceremony, the audience will get complete entertainment through the event. Besides, a documentary made on the veterans will be screened during the award ceremony.”
27 noted veterans, who will get awards on the golden jubilee of Amin Jewellers, are—AKM Zakaria (Archaeologist), Professor Anisuzzaman (Educationist and Intellectual), Ashalata Baidya (Freedom Fighter), AM Harun Ar Rashid (Scientist and Technologist),  AK Azad Khan (Doctor), Kakan Bibi (Freedom Fighter), Jamilur Reza Chowdhury (Civil Engineer), Tofayel Ahmed (Politician), Dwijen Sharma (Naturalist) Nurjahan Begun (Journalist), Protiva Mutsuddi (Language Soldier), Fazle Hasan Abed (Social welfare and development personality), Mahadev Saha (Poet and Journalist), Murtaza Bashir (Artist), Mustafa Monowar (Artist and cultural personality), Jatin Sarker (Thinker and Writer), Barrister Rafiqul Haque (Lawyer), Razzak (Actor), Runa Laila (Singer), Syeeda Khanam (Photo Journalist), Serajul Islam Chowdhury (Educationist and Intellectual), Sukumar Barua (Rhymester), Sudhin Das (Nazrul Song Singer), Syed Shamsul Haque (Poet, Playwright and Writer), Hasan Azizul Haque (Writer) and Humayun Ahmed (Writer-posthumous).
To note, the preparation of the programme was begun a year ago, and the members of jury board who worked for giving nomination of the awardees are Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director General of Bangla Academy Dr. Shamsuzzaman Khan and noted writer Professor Syed Monjurul Islam, Department of English, Dhaka University. l
