Research programme launched at DU

A ‘participatory research and ownership with technology, information and change (PROTIC)’ programme was inaugurated at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday.
The research was held under the joint auspices of Disaster Science and Management department of Dhaka University (DU), Monash University of Australia and Oxfam Bangladesh.
Presided over by DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Nasreen Ahmad, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan attended the programme as chief guest.
Shyam Sunder Sikder, secretary of ICT Division and Lucinda Bell, Charge d’ Affaires of Australian High Commission were present as special guests at the function.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan said the distressed rural people of Bangladesh would be highly benefited by the outcome of this research.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Nasreen Ahmad thanked the organisers of the research project and hoped that the outcome of the project would bring a change in the
socio-economic development of the poor people of the country.
Certificate giving ceremony held
A certificate giving ceremony was held to provide certificates among the participants who completed the courses on Teaching & Learning (CTL: Batch 1 & 2) and Advanced Research Methodology (ARM: Batch 2) courses on Friday, says a press release.
The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) and Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (GUCETL) of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) have jointly organised a the programme at Green auditorium of GUB.
A total of 23 participants of CTL course and 11 participants of ARM course have been awarded the certificates.
Dil Afroza Begum, member of University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, was the chief guest and Mohammad Rezwan Khan, vice-chancellor of United International University, was the guest of honour in the ceremony. Md Golam Samdani Fakir, vice-chancellor of GUB, presided over the session. Chairmen of different departments and faculty members of GUB were also present in the ceremony.


DIU, AIUB sign agreement

Daffodil International University (DIU) and American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) recently signed an agreement to work together in collaboration with International Association of Universities (IAU), says a press release. Under the agreement, both the universities have agreed to work for the internationalisation process and accordingly IAU has ensured all support services to set the standard.
M Lutfar Rahman, vice-chancellor of Daffodil International University, and Carmen Z Lamagna, vice-chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The steering committee members joined the signing ceremony and sketched the process map for the execution.
Charles C Villanueva, pro-vice chancellor, Farheen Hassan, assistant professor and head of MGMT, Faculty of Business Administration, from AIUB and  AKM Fazlul Hoque, registrar, Yousuf M Islam, executive director, HRDI,  Emran Hossain, director
administration, from DIU, were present in the ceremony among others.
