Six Singapore primary school students and a teacher who were on an excursion to the peak were among those killed when the 6.0-magnitude quake struck Friday morning, sending landslides crashing downward. Authorities said two more people remained missing on the mountain.

Suicide bomb kills 15 in Iraq
AFP, BAQUBA: A suicide car bomb ripped through roadside restaurants at the entrance to the town of Baladruz in eastern Iraq, killing at least 15 people, police and provincial officials said Sunday.
The attack took place late Saturday at the entrance of Baladruz, which lies about 65 kilometres northeast of Baghdad, and was claimed by the Islamic State group.
"It hit a string of restaurants on the eastern side of town... Most of the people there were truck drivers transporting goods between Baghdad and Kurdistan," a police captain said, adding 37 people were also wounded in the explosion.
Iraq forces retake town from IS
AP/UNB, Baghdad: An Iraqi general says troops backed by Shiite militias have recaptured key parts of the northern refinery town of Beiji from Islamic State militants. The commander of the Interior Ministry's Quick Reaction Forces, Brig. Gen. Nassir al-Fartousi, told state TV Sunday that the Iraqi flag was raised on a local government building in Beiji and that troops were advancing, without elaborating. There was no word on the fate of the contested refinery on the town's outskirts. Beiji, some 250 kilometers (155 miles) north of Baghdad, fell to the extremist IS group during its blitz across northern Iraq a year ago, but parts of the town and nearby refinery have since been retaken by government forces. - See more at: http://unb.com.bd/islamic-state-88#sthash.0xt7v3mW.dpuf
