A two-week solo miniature art exhibition titled ‘Life and the Narrative of Time-1’ by artist Professor Dr Hira Sobahan is underway at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition was held on the gallery premises on Friday evening, where state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid was present as the chief guest and Frank Grützmacher Técourt, deputy head of mission to the Embassy of France to Bangladesh, also attended the event as the special guest.
Out of his 500 miniature artworks, 101 artworks are put on display in this exhibition.
For his third solo miniature art exhibition, Professor Dr Hira Sobahan has brought about a narrative of the time employing oil pastel, pen ink and acrylic on newsprint. He is particularly conversant with modern approaches of art, namely concrete, semi-abstract and abstract. His artworks depict the natural beauties of this country, the modern way of life, disasters, the various shortcomings of society, and social decadence, among others. The title of his exhibition is ‘Life and the Narrative of Time-1’.
Dr Hira Sobahan (Md Abdus Sobahan) was born on 24 May 1970 at the village Nandibari in Muktagacha of Mymensingh district. He is a well-known print maker, painter, designer, researcher and writer. Currently he is a professor of printmaking at the Department of Painting Oriental Art and Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Rajshahi.
The exhibition remains open to all till July 23 and can be visited according to the schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to12noon and 5pm to 8pm). Closed on Sunday.
